Lecture Capture Upgrade: Semester 2 soft launchPosted: July 19, 2012
The Lecture Capture upgrade for Griffith is moving ahead with a soft launch of the program due for release in Semester 2, 2012.
15 rooms across the Logan and Mt Gravatt campuses will run both the old and new systems for Semester 2, when a review will be conducted to ensure the success of the upgrade. The hard launch is scheduled to take place in Semester 1, 2013.
For academics, the new system will provide a ‘heat map’ that will identify the parts of lectures that students watched and/or listened to the most. This can indicate a range of things, from topics that gained the most interest to potential issues with the quality of the recording.
New online editing software within the program will also prove to be very useful. It is easy to use and navigate, and downloading external editing software is no longer necessary.
Students will benefit from an updated player with a host of new features, including a thumbnail index of slides found in the lecture presentations, and a text search tool to pin point specific information
