Where to go for Library Database TrialsPosted: August 13, 2012
The library currently provides access to over 900 databases across all teaching, learning and research areas of the University.
These databases provide access to over 130,000 electronic journals and 60,000 ebooks. Where the university does not have access to a specific database, Scholarly Information can usually organise a free 30 day trial. A trial allows full access to a resource for 30 days.
Access is made available via the library databases portal, under the Trial Databases tab. IP or username/password are the usual means of controlled access and trials are available to all staff and students of the university.
All new trials are advertised via the Library blog, and include a short blurb about the content.
If a decision is made to subscribe to a trialled database, access is made available via LibrarySearch and the Library catalogue.
Feedback on the content, ease of use, relevancy, etc. can be sent to a relevant member of the Academic Services Unit.
