Griffith Open Day – Free Wireless SuccessPosted: August 16, 2012
Griffith Open Day last Sunday was a great success with thousands of people visiting the Nathan, Gold Coast and South Bank campuses.
As part of the showcase, and for the first time, INS offered a free wireless internet service for attendees to use. Peter Kurtz, Network and Communications Services (NCS) Manager with Corporate Technology Infrastructure (CTI), Information Services, made this happen with team members Carolina Jaimes (Business Analyst) and Jay Praboda (Project Manager).
On the day over 1,000 people connected to the free wireless service, with the average session connection time being 25 minutes and the average data downloaded being 6.5gb – a fabulous success in attendee take-up!
As the popularity of e-communication continues to sky rocket, services like free wireless may one day be second nature to showcases like Open Day. Initiatives like this play an integral part in what makes Griffith such a great contender among higher education institutions.
