Google announces Gmail changesPosted: November 8, 2012
Google will be launching a new layout for Gmail this month, with the changes set to make the composing and replying process faster and easier.
The brand new ‘compose and reply experience’ will feature pop-up windows, similar to that of the chat feature, and allow you to search and reference previous emails while composing a new one.
There are a number of other changes that will also add to Gmail’s ease of use:
- Minimising email windows to access other emails or chat windows
- Staff profile pictures in autocomplete to help find recipients faster and reduce the chance of sending to the wrong recipient
- Collapsible ‘to:, cc: and bcc:’ and ‘email feature’ areas to maximise available space
The reply message layout has also been revamped with improvements including a new dynamic design that can expand to fit email content and cull excess vertical height from email conversations.
These new features will be rolled out at Griffith on November 13 and 14. For more information on these changes, please visit the Gmail blog.
