Masters and Slaves a success at the Gold Coast library

  • The Small Room Writers Collective certainly wowed their audience at the Friends of the Library ‘Masters and Slaves’ event on Wednesday 17 April at the Gold Coast campus Library.

Guests arrived to the smooth sounds of jazz performed by a trio of Queensland Conservatorium (QCGU) graduates, and mingled together over drinks and canapés.

INS PVC Linda O’Brien opened the event by welcoming everyone and handed over to Dr. Sally Breen, head of the School of Humanities Small Room Writers Collective.

In front of Friends and members of the public, 6 performers took on a plethora of literary greats in very different performances.

Ashleigh Watson took on Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat Pray Love, Dean Barker wrestled with Dr Seuss, Diana Brown relived an Enid Blyton childhood, Paige Townsend took on famous literary rogue Hunter S Thompson, Simon Jun wondered why John Hughes held all our sixteen candles and Jordan Lawrence penned a homage to Chuck Palahniuk.
