Preview our new library catalogue

  • Ahead of its launch next month, we’re giving you a sneak peek of the NEW library catalogue. But before it goes live, we want your feedback and thoughts:

Preview our new library catalogue now.

Take advantage of the preview period! You have several weeks to familiarise yourself with the new look and feel before we permanently switch on 18 November, 2013.

We encourage you to explore the new features and tell us what you think.

We’re listening.

You told us What we’ve done
You want to keep your search refinements by default. Your search refinements are now retained. Use “Clear filters” if you want to do a completely new search.
It’s too slow, you don’t like waiting for it to load in between each search  refinement. We’ve made it quicker to select multiple refinements. There is still a lag for your results to load, but we’re working on that!
You get too many irrelevant results. You get better results in Google. Newspaper articles, images and reference content are now grouped together in your results, like Google.
You still want to use the traditional library catalogue interface sometimes. You can limit your search to items in the “Classic library catalogue”. This will exclude articles, streaming music, streaming video, images and some other online resources from your search. We’ve also overhauled the Advanced Search screen so you can search across more fields and create complex searches more easily. We’ve also added a link in the header if you prefer to go straight to the Classic library catalogue.

You need to know:

  • The base URL isn’t changing, but be sure to double check your links after the changes go live.
  • We’re changing the name from LibrarySearch to Library catalogue (because we noticed that’s what you kept calling it). Remember to update your 2014 teaching material accordingly.
  • We’re still in beta! There is no mobile friendly view yet and the dates are in the wrong format. Still, we’d love to hear what you think!

We want to know:

We’re here to help.

We know that change can be challenging. If you would like training our librarians are available to help you. Our fantastic Library and IT help team are also available to answer your questions. You can also use the Feedback link within the preview site to ask questions or tell us what you think.

Now go and explore!
