Enjoy an Evening with Dr Charles PagePosted: May 5, 2014
Join Brisbane documentary photographer, Charles Page, as he shares highlights from his recently released photographic essay.
Friends of the Library will host renowned photographer Charles Page in an intimate evening to explore his long awaited photographic essay Memories in Place: the Centenary of WW1. Charles’ book explores the enduring connections between European WW1 battlefields and the Australian streets, estates and rivers that were named as a result of the patriotic fervour in post war Australia.
How do places such as Pozietes or Passchendaele in Australia resonate with those places in Belgium and France one hundred years on? What impact does this have on our understanding of war, peace, nationhood and friendship?
Following the presentation, Friends of the Library members will be invited to join us for a cocktail reception and the opportunity to network with industry colleagues and guest speaker Dr Charles Page. You will have the option to become a Friends of the Library member and attend this reception when you register online.
When: Thursday 22 May – doors open at 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start. Cocktail reception commences at 7.00pm
Where: Gold Coast campus library (G10)
