GovHack is back and needs you and your students!Posted: May 27, 2014
Are you an IT or data expert? We want you! For the first time ever, the Gold Coast GovHack will be held at Griffith University and we are seeking staff and students to get involved!
GovHack Brisbane and GovHack Gold Coast are part of the national GovHack competition which will run across the country simultaneously on 11-13 July.
What is GovHack?
GovHack is a national event that draws people together from government, industry, academia and the general public. Participants are given access to freshly released government data to create apps, data visualisations, mashups, ideas, art – anything creative – all within 48 hours! GovHack is about finding new ways to do great things and encouraging open government and open data. And there’s prizes for the winners too of course!
We need you!
This year is especially important because for the first time, the Gold Coast GovHack will be held at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. We’re after web and application developers, open data and visualisation gurus, user experience folk, accessibility peeps, augmented reality-ists, mobile maestros and anyone interested in open government to get involved. You can get a team of colleagues or students together and participate all weekend, or you can act as a mentor to teams of hackers, popping in for a couple of hours and offering your professional advice to others as they create wonderful things with government data.
UQ and QUT are forming teams of students, staff and alumni to compete for the prizes in the Brisbane GovHack. Let’s give them a run for their money!
