Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Newspapers now available in WestlawPosted: April 5, 2016
Legal databases are just for law students, law school faculty and lawyers, right?
Um, wrong! Most of us like to keep abreast of local and international news, whether it’s serious political shenanigans or entertaining celebrity gossip. And one of our key legal databases now makes news and current affairs more accessible.
Thomson Reuters Westlaw provides access to Australian and New Zealand newspapers, such as The Age, The Australian, Australian Financial Review, Courier Mail, Gold Coast Bulletin and Sydney Morning Herald.
You can find articles, columns, letters and other sections of text from newspaper publications; however, images are not available. The database contains back issues of each newspaper so you can conduct quite an extensive search. For example, you can find full-text articles from The Courier Mail from 2001 to present.
Maybe you are after slightly more exotic news than the offerings of local publications? Not a problem. Thomson Reuters contains newspapers from America, Asia, Europe, United Kingdom and more. So if you are an avid reader of the Huffington Post, the Daily Telegraph or Montreal Gazette, Thomson Reuters Westlaw has you covered.
